Born in 1946. Polish and English philologist, studied at the Jagiellonian University; directs the Faculty of Comparative Literature at the Silesian University, of which he was a head in the years 1996-2002. Visiting Professor at Stanford University, University of California San Diego, Studio Orientale in Neapol. Recently he has published “D-minished. The human being, the world, friendship in William Blake's works" (2001), “Antigone in the world of corporation. Reflections on the university and contemporary world” (2002). The book “Capturing. Henry David Thoreau and the world community” is in print. Together with the double-bass player, Bogdan Mizerski, the creator of essays for a voice and double-bass released on 4 CDs.
