Przemysław Czapliński

Polish literary critic, Modern Literature professor. He works at the Polish Language Institute UAM. He gained his doctorate in 1992, completed his postdoctoral studies in 1998 and became a professor at the Adam Mickiewicz University a year later. He got the title of full professor in 2002. He is Director of the Literature Critics Workshop at the Department of Polish UAM. He is also Chief Editor of the magazine Poznańskie Studia Polonistyczne (Poznań Polish Studies). He used to belong to the Polska Akademia Nauk (Polish Academy of Sciences). Between 1997-2001 juror for the Nike Prize in Literature. Author of many critical publications, for example, Ślady przełomu, O prozie polskiej 1976-1996, Ruchome marginesy: szkice o literaturze lat 90, Efekt bierności, Literatura w czasie normalnym, Powrót centrali, Literatura w nowej rzeczywistości, (Signs of breakthrough, Of Polish prose 1976-1996, Moving goalposts: thoughts on literature of the 90s, Effects of passivity, Literature in normal times, Return of the headquarters, Literature in the new reality). He is the winner of the Kościeliski Foundation Prize (1998), Chairman of the Council of Ministers Prize (1999) and the Kazimierz Wyki Prize (2001).
