Born in Oświęcim in 1942. Writer, artistic publicist, painter. In 1970 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow Faculty of Graphics in Katowice. Participant of individual exhibitions, among others: 1978 Exhibition of 22 painting BWA Łodź, 1989 Paintings Kordegarda Gallery Warsaw, 1994 BWA Katowice Orbis Pictus. Collective exhibitions: about 70, among others: VI March Salon BWA Zakopane, 1975 Romance and Romanticism in Polish art of the XIX and XX century Warsaw, 1989 Modern Polish Masters London, Great Britain, several exhnibitions in Germany, England, France and Sweden. Independent writer and publicist since 1970, regular co-worker of the periodicals: “Regiony”, “Twórczość”, “Znak”, “Przegląd Polityczny”. In the years 1974-77 lecturer at the Silesian University, Institute of Artistic Education; 1975-80 regular co-worker of the Polish Radio, Program 3, programme Radio sale of paintings, Zgryz. In 1975 he cofounded the first independent Artistic Foundation Ama. Author of about 30 books, among others: “Hermes in Upper Silesia”, “Another Hermes”, “Descriptions of a mystical trip from Oświęcim to Zgorzelec 1257-1957”, “Pythagoras on grass”, “All Hallows’ Eve in Berlin”, “Another Hermes”, “Ghost sale”, “A Matter of Hermes”. He has received the awards: Kulturpreis Slesien des Landes Niedersachsen, Award of the Warsaw Bookseller Club, Award of the Culture Foundation, Andrzej Kijowski Foundation Award for essayistic works (1999), Decorated with the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta 92005). Member of PEN Club, Association of Polish Writers, Association of Polish Artists, Upper Silesian Literary Association.
