Polish musician, composer, saxophonist, clarinetist, one of the creators of the phenomenon of bands such as Miłość, Łoskot, The Users, NRD, Gdańskie Słoniki, Masło and many others. A graduate of the Secondary School of Fine Arts in Gdynia-Orłowo. In 1987 he began studies at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. Fascinated with free jazz music, particularly musicians such as John Coltrane and Ornette Coleman, he started playing the alto saxophone during the first year of studies. After two years of studies he left the academy. Instead, he became a father of the most creative phenomenon on the Polish music scene of the last 20 years and the leader of the Polish improvisation scene. He also accompanied poets Marcin Świetlicki and Yuri Andrukhovycz and created musical & literary projects with Andrzej Stasiuk. Primarily, however, he focuses on radical improvised jazz by collaborating with international stars of free improvised music, including Peter Brötzmann, Joe McPhee, Ken Vandermark, Peter Friis Nielsen, Dave Raphis and Don Robinson. He has recorded over 30 records so far. He also composes music for theatre spectacles and documentary and feature films. Together with his wife Aleksandra he runs a publishing house Kilogram Records.
On the first day of the Conrad Festival, he will present another musical & literary project with Andrzej Stasiuk – 2nd November (Tuesday), at 8.30 p.m. in the Fabryka Club (ul. Zabłocie 23).
