Ireneusz Kania

Famed Polish translator, essayist and columnist. He completed his studies in Romance philology at the Jagiellonian University. In addition to translating books, he is an author of essays and sketches, which are most frequently published as introductions and afterwords to books. He has written works on Tibet, published in Poland, the United States, India, China, Hungary and Romania. He translates from: English, German, Swedish, Greek, Latin, Hebrew, Sanskrit, Pali, Tibetan, Russian, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Romanian, and has translated the works of authors including Umberto Eco, Mircea Eliade, Robert Graves, Jack London, Nicholas of Cusa, and Constantin Noica. He is also a specialist in the fields of Buddhism and the Kabbalah – he has published, among other works, “O Kabale i Zoharze” (On the Kabbalah and Zohar, 1994), and “Muttavali” (1999).
