One of the most fascinating Polish poets and critics of literature, translator of works including those of Wallace Stevens, John Ashbery, and Simon Armitage. He is an academic worker at the Institute of English Philology at the University of Opole. He is the author of five books of poetry: Wiersze pod nieobecność [Verses in Absentia], Aurora, X, Linia życia [Life Line], and Inne tempo [A Different Tempo], which was nominated to the NIKE literary awards in 2009. His fascination with the poetry of Wallace Stevens has helped to shape his own work. He makes use of rich metaphors, operates in a high style, and in form, his poems allude to classical rules of verse. Has also been the author of well-known essays of literary criticism, Na kresach człowieka. Sześć esejów o dekonstrukcji [The Ends of Man. Six Essays on Deconstruction], Niepodległość głosu. Szkice o poezji polskiej po 1968 roku [Independence of Voice. Essays on the Polish Poetry after 1968], Urwany ślad [The Lost Trail], and Luminous Traversing. Wallace Stevens and the American Sublime. Each of his works has been widely discussed and has become an indisputeable element of the contemporary discourse on literature. He is a laureate of the prestigious Ludwik Fryde award, granted by the International Association of Literary Critics (2003). He is known as an expert on the works of Andrzej Sosnowski.

As a guest of this year’s Conrad Festival, he will take part in the panel discussion dedicated to contemporary American poetry.
