The exceptional concert by Jordi Savall, entitled Tous les matins du monde, which took place on Monday evening in St. Katherine’s Church in Krakow’s Kazimierz district inaugurated the 1st Joseph Conrad International Literature Festival. During the performance, which was attended by Pascal Quignard, fragments of his novel were read out by the renowned Polish actor, Krzysztof Globisz. Also present were Per Olov Enquist and Marek Bieńczyk.

The inaugural concert of the 1st Joseph Conrad International Literature Festival will be broadcast live from St. Katherine’s Church in Krakow by Program Drugi Polskiego Radia (the 2nd radio channel of the Polish Radio). This exceptional concert by Jordi Savall, entitled Tous les matins du monde, is dedicated to one of the guests of the Festival, Pascal Quignard. The transmission begins at 9 pm.

To celebrate the opening of the 1st Joseph Conrad International Literature Festival in Krakow The Town Hall Tower in the Main Market Square has turned into an illuminated lighthouse. The Tower will radiate light for the six consecutive days of the Festival to mark the unfolding great festival of literature.

Tomorrow (Tuesday, 3rd November) at 8:40 am, the viewers of the morning television programme Poranek TVN 24 will have a chance to hear about the first Joseph Conrad International Literature Festival, its special guests and accompanying events from Piotr Mucharski, the Festival Programme Director.

The 1st Joseph Conrad International Literature Festival is due to begin in three days’ time. Today, during a press conference, Magdalena Sroka (Director of the Krakow Festival Office), prof. Michał Paweł Markowski (the Festival Artistic Director), Piotr Mucharski (Programme Director) oraz Aleksander Kardyś (Director of the Tygodnik Powszechny Foundation) talked about the programme of the Festival, special guests and accompanying events. Also present was Grażyna Grabowska (Directof of the Book Fair in Krakow). The 13th Book Fair in Krakow, to be held between 5th and 8th November, is naturally connected to the Festival. The press conference was chaired by Grzegorz Jankowicz (the Festival Secretary).
