We regret to inform you that due to health problems Atiq Rahimi has cancelled his visit to Krakow during the 1st Joseph Conrad International Literature Festival. At the same time, the writer has confirmed his participation in the Festival next year.

The third Conrad Festival supplement to Tygodnik Powszechny, CONRAD 03, specially prepared for the 1st Joseph Conrad International Literature Festival due to begin on 2nd November in Krakow will be available tomorrow.

Kot Przybora, President of the PZL advertising agency, co-author of many awarded advertising campaigns, will be the guest of the 1st Joseph Conrad International Literature Festival. On Friday (6th November) at 6 pm in Kino Pod Baranami (Pod Baranami Cinema) Przybora will speak about advertising as a form of literature. The meeting, open to wide public, will be chaired by Michał Kuźmiński form Tygodnik Powszechny. Entrance free of charge.

The 1st Joseph Conrad International Literature Festival initiates the community initiative called Reading lessons with… During four Festival days secondary school students will meet prominent figures representing Polish literature and literature studies: Marek Bieńczyk, Stefan Chwin, Michał Paweł Markowski and Piotr Śliwiński.

Nearly all of the foreign guests at the 1st Joseph Conrad International Literature Festival have strong links with the cinema. Their books have been adapted into films, or they themselves turned into directors or co-operated with other film-makers as scriptwriters. This is why during this literary festival we would like to invite you to go to the cinema.
